SOLUTION TO THE CLOCK-LIKE PUZZLE
Thanks for the explanation, small-tool!
The paper clue has symbols that look similar to clocks. However, they are not. While zoomed in on the shelves, you need to mentally combine the rings with the purple shapes on the window. The black branch going up the middle of the circle of purple shapes points at 1 (so 1 position is the upper left opening between the purples -- right of the traditional 12 o’clock position on a clock).

The first circle on the paper has the opening to the upper right. This is one space clockwise from the 1 position on the window. This number is 2. The next circle has the opening 2 spots down from the 2. This is position 4. Then comes 5 for the third circle (one spot clockwise of 4), and 7 for the last (2 clockwise of 5).

Zoom in on the bedspread. Take all the colored stars (there should be 8. Don’t forget the pillow one. Orange, blue, cyan, green, brown, pink, red, and yellow)
To back up, click the back button in the bottom right corner of the game screen

Zoom in on the Peanut’s bean bag chair in the bottom right corner
Get the power cord from the floor under the chair at the very bottom of the screen (a bit hard to see)
Zoom in on the rug on the floor
Click the right side and see the hidden lock.
Zoom in on the shelves over the desk
Note the strange purple symbols on the window
Still zoomed in, click the third book from the left
Read up on the games.
Note the + hint in the book
With the book still open in the about item view, click the bottom right corner of the edges of the pages to flip to the back
Get the red ring (thanks, ellenbtler!)
Zoom in on the computer tower that is right of the desk chair
Use the cord on the outlet on the wall
Note the code on the screen
Enter this code into the top desk drawer (yes, the numbers are very small!)
Click the button to the left of the numbers and get the black ring
